Douglas

It was great to have Douglas present!
It is overwhelming the amount of information that is out there/new learning's!
I feel like I need 1/1 support to remember and implement all those fabulous tools!
Our district needs someone like Douglas to support admin and staff.
Things move dependent on the person you would hope despite of the person!
In some cases you can move despite who is in a position however change occurs when you have the RIGHT person/people on the bus! however we need to make sure that the person and or people have the support and or backup when there is push back.

Summit

The sumit was great! I would love to bring this to my school district! There were so manny sessions that it was hard to pick. As I went through the sessions I was wishing certain people in my district could have gone to them. There was something for all levels of technology needs which was inviting for all.
I have something to say for each session, but one really stands out; "creating inspiring spaces, physical spaces for learning" the reason this sticks out to me is because we add new classrooms every year and or we build new schools yet we continue to buy the same classroom supplies. We need to stop and think about buying to prepare us for the future....I don't know such a simple thing to fix...yet we go to the same thing when we are encouraging change........

9/26 Reflection

Learning how to blog! yea!!! but not there yet...still need a lot of help:) will continue to practice!!!

Lots of resources to look through! I'm very interested to see what resources I can use for my district...
This class is the work....the struggle of how to incorporate technology in the classrooms!!....how can the whole system use it productively! Who's out there doing it right? who has it down?

Chapter 1 Educational Technology

Fact: "Electronic games are becoming a bigger business than movies"

This is somewhat alarming! While adults are also consumers of electronic games, the biggest consumer are kids, as early as 1 year olds....and then they come into a classroom Environment??

Reminds me of what Medina said;

If you wanted to create an education environment that was directly opposed to what the brain was good at doing, you probably would design something like a classroom” - Excerpt From: John Medina “Brain Rules"

PD must be in the forefront of any technology initiative, so that it does not sit idle in the classrooms/storage rooms.
