Summit

The sumit was great! I would love to bring this to my school district! There were so manny sessions that it was hard to pick. As I went through the sessions I was wishing certain people in my district could have gone to them. There was something for all levels of technology needs which was inviting for all.
I have something to say for each session, but one really stands out; "creating inspiring spaces, physical spaces for learning" the reason this sticks out to me is because we add new classrooms every year and or we build new schools yet we continue to buy the same classroom supplies. We need to stop and think about buying to prepare us for the future....I don't know such a simple thing to fix...yet we go to the same thing when we are encouraging change........

  1. Glad you enjoyed the summit, Sonia! Have you seen any inspiring spaces in your school district? Do you know of teachers who'd be willing to move in this direction?

  2. I completely agree that we often recreate the same spaces and don't take advantage of the opportunity to move forward and try something new to create better learning environments. I've begun attending conferences and tours with the Association for Learning Environments. Most involved are architects and construction representatives who are trying to help education design and build better learning spaces. You can find more about them at learningscapes.cefphi.org. They just did a tour of Happy Valley Elementary this past week. I had planned to go, but missed it. Touring schools that have moved forward is a great way to get others to consider changing how they use their space.
